Bear Island, the second largest Island of 274 on Lake Winnipesaukee, is home to Camp Lawrence for boys and Camp Nokomis for girls.  The camps are operated by the Merrimack Valley YMCA of Lawrence, Ma.  The Camping Services Branch will be celebrating 100 years of camping on Bear Island this year.  This event will be commemorated by a special events station operating on the Island as W1Y. The station will be active Sept 6 and 7. Look for us on 80, 40, 20 meter bands with a possible appearance on 30M.
